Imitators and Healthy Patterns
– Paul says that we should walk according to the rule to which we have attained.
This rule is that we only care for Christ! For such a walk, we have patterns we
may imitate. Paul tells us to learn not only from him and those with him, but also from
everyone who walks in this principle. Such a learning spirit comes about when someone sees something
divine and powerful, something that changes the meaning of his existence and remolds
the manner of his living. If you are such a pattern, others around you become different.
Our Heavenly Commonwealth
– Many walk outside of what the Lord has measured to them. They become the enemies
of the cross of Christ (3:18), not receiving what the Lord has arranged for them.
However, our commonwealth exists not on earth, but in the heavens. Our existence,
life, living, labor, and operation are heavenly. Our commonwealth has to do with a
shared association in the divine life. We pursue and gain Christ because we are called
into this heavenly commonwealth that has Christ as everything.
