| Preface
"He who has begun in you a good work will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus" (Phil. 1:6). This word was spoken by the apostle Paul to the Philippians with confidence. How could Paul have such confidence? Can we have the same confidence today? What is the good work that has been initiated in us, and how may we be assured that it will be completed? In this issue of the Fellowship Journal some questions along this line are addressed. In "The Experience in Philippians" we see that Paul's confidence in the Lord's working sprang from his understanding of what a full gospel the Philippians had received. This gospel is actually a new realm with every positive thing to encourage and strengthen us for the completion of His good work. The good and profitable work begun in us inspires confidence because it was originated by God Himself, rooted in Christ, and is according to God's heavenly plan. In the "Born Again" series we discover something more of the riches of the divine life within us. This life always reminds us that we belong to the Lord. Along with this witness within, we also have been given a foretaste of more enjoyment, an anointing teaching us to abide in the Lord, and the life-giving Spirit imparting life to us and leading us into more reality. In "The Will of God" article we see that the desire of God's heart is to have many sons conformed to His Firstborn. Our God is purposeful, and every page of the Scriptures unveils to us His will. When we come to Him and His word with a seeking heart and an exercised spirit, we are brought to know the substance of God's eternal will, the enjoyment of His operating life. This enjoyment of life issues in a testimony of the living God and an ability to dispense His life into others. A special article in this issue is "Enjoying the Hymns." Spiritual hymns are precious treasures that contain inspirations, experiences, and expressions to help and encourage us in every stage of our Christian life, "until the day of Christ Jesus." By our faithful God's working according to His eternal will and all the divine provisions of His life, we can have the same confidence Paul had. Our God will indeed complete the good work He has begun in us. We hope this will inspire us and strengthen us with the same confidence, as this issue of the Fellowship Journal is read. |
