The Church in Cleveland's Newsletter
for April 2002
All new messages will
be posted by April 1, 2002.
I. We are continuing to feature four new messages of the Psalms of
Ascent in April.
A summary of each new message is listed below and can be found at: http://www.clevelandonline.org/English/framesindex.htm.
1. The Stage of Enlargement Psalms 129-131: Now we need an even greater
turn, which we call "the stage of enlargement." The Lord must work on
us and enlarge us so that our desire is not for ourselves, but for the
whole church life to be healthy.
2. Being Enlarged through the Lord's Environmental Dealings Psalm 129:
The psalmist has been dealt with his entire life since his youth, yet
he realizes that the dealings and afflictions always came to him from
the Lord with His testimony in view. He has the mark of the Lord's workmanship.
It is the plowing and cutting of deep and long furrows that give us the
healthy growth in life.
3. Being Enlarged through the Knowledge of Ourselves Psalm 130: Whenever
we experience the Lord's plowing work through our environment, we become
a person of prayer. The knowledge of ourselves makes us the proper person
for the building up of the church. By our knowledge of ourselves and our
trust in the Lord's redemption we become enlarged for the sake of His
testimony.
4. Being Enlarged through Lowliness and Submission Psalm 131: By knowing
ourselves, we are humbled and no longer desire to be exercised in great
matters. We enjoy submitting to Him. Now we are able to properly care
for the Lord's testimony.
II. We have added three new Audio Clips from the message Living a life
in fellowship with the Lord.
Living a life in fellowship with the Lord is a crucial matter. A life
in fellowship is the base of our pursuing life, our growing life, and
our serving life. We need to ask ourselves whether we are really touching
the Lord in the Lord in our Christian life, or are we still merely living
a good life? http://www.clevelandonline.org/English/Audio/audio_list.htm
1. Knowing God is Spirit - If someone mentions the word
God, you would try to match it with a word. You might match it up with
powerful, mighty, all wise, loving, kind. You would match it up with many
things. But if you came to God and asked Him, God who are You? He would
say, I'm a Spirit.
2. Knowing the Blood of Jesus Christ - As Christians living on this earth
we still have our fallen nature. For this reason the Lord has given us
the blood of Jesus Christ as a divine provision for us to have a life
of fellowship with Him.
3. Loving the Word - When we build up a habit of memorizing and speaking
the Bible then our ministering will become rich, because the word of God
will be mingled with our speaking. If a brother is anointed when he speaks,
it means that he has experienced three things. First, he has paid the
price to do the groundwork. Second, he has learned to abide in the anointing.
And third, he has been through many hardships.
III. We have added one new Audio Clips from the message To Know the
Lord's Leading.
How do we know whether or not the Lord has led us? To know the Lord's
inward leading some fundamental principles are crucial: being restful,
seeking His presence, and having a ready spirit. http://www.clevelandonline.org/English/Audio/audio_list.htm.
IV. We are adding three new messages in the "Fellowship with Full-timers"
section.
A summary of each new message is listed below and can be found at:
http://www.clevelandonline.org/English/serving/serv_list.htm#fulltime
1. How to Serve the Lord - The Sense, Nature, and Operation of the Divine
Life - Every full-timer must pay attention to the growth in life. Your
growth in life will eventually lead you to a maturity in life. Maturity
comes from the proper understanding of what life is and how life operates.
The divine life we have received includes three things: the divine life
with its sense, its nature, and its operation.
2. How to Serve the Lord - Three "E's," Three "P's," and Three "C's" -
The secret of serving the Lord full-time is to serve according to these
three "e's," three "p's," and three "c's." The three "e's" for your person
- expectations, exercise, and energized. The three "p's" for your daily
life - pursue, perfected, and preach. The three "c's" for your labor -
church, co-workers, and companions.
3. How to Labor in the Word - Taking Care of Our Person and Our Way -
When we labor in the Word our person must be simple, consecrated, and
spiritual. Then when our person is right we must have the proper way to
learn what the facts are in the Bible. The facts of the Bible will bring
us to inspiration, to truth, and to light.
V. We are adding five new messages titled "Being a Brother." The
highest place ordained by God for you is to be a brother. Regardless of
how manifested you become, always remember that you can never be more
than a brother. Appreciate being a brother. If you appreciate your being
a brother, you will be adequately protected. A summary of each new message
is listed below and can be found at: http://www.clevelandonline.org/English/serv_list.htm#brother
1. "Brother" - The Highest Place Ordained by God - In the church life
there are none besides brothers. And this is the highest status. Any other
title among us reveals there is a shortage of truth.
2. Being a Brother Versus Being a Worker - Being a brother is the highest
place ordained for us by God. This realization should be a safeguard to
us. Many, however, disregard their status as brother and seek something
else they think to be higher, such as apostle, elder, or "ministering
brother."
3. Four Crucial Elements and our Four-fold Place - In following the Lord
there are four crucial elements: life, ministry, commitment, and fellowship.
In life we are brothers. In ministry we are members. In commitment we
are slaves. In fellowship we are the Lord's friends. The Lord has placed
us in a four-fold place.
4. Appreciate Being a Brother (1) - There is the need to more fully appreciate
what it is to be a brother. There are four points on this matter that
we shall cover in this message. Firstly, being a brother is our place
by birth. Secondly, it is our highest exercise by growth. Thirdly, being
a brother is the hardest thing for us to learn. Fourthly, it is the greatest
manifestation and test to our person.
5. Appreciate Being a Brother (2) - To appreciate being a brother is our
highest exercise in growth. We shall cover 7 more points in this message.
To be a brother we must learn to be for the maturity in life, to live
by means of the humanity of Jesus, to exercise in the revelation of the
mystery, to carry out the ministry committed to us, to care for the exercise
of our operation, to have a healthy daily walk and living, and also to
labor effectively.
VI. We are adding six new messages titled "Confronting Crisis in the
Serving Life."
As a person grows spiritually, various crises are bound to confront him.
Just as there are particular problems with each stage of our physical
growth, so it is with our spiritual growth. If a person has a healthy
spiritual condition, he may be relatively immune from crises. A summary
of each new message is listed below and can be found at: http://www.clevelandonline.org/English/serv_list.htm#crisis
1. The Way to Handle Crisis - If we want to be healthy, we need to be
controlled and exercised. We need to be controlled by three things: Christ,
the church, and the proper awareness of the soul-life. Then we have two
exercises. We must exercise to live a normal life that the saints can
approve of. And we must exercise to be in the Word, in the spiritual riches,
and in the Lord's presence.
2. The Major Crisis - A Deformed Daily Life - In this message we come
to what could be considered the most crucial crisis confronting any servant
of the Lord. It concerns how your daily life is being formed. Your daily
life determines your entire operation.
3. Guarding Against the Desires of the Soul-life - As you guard against
a deformed daily life by understanding your soul-life, watch out for these
five things in particular. Watch out for what fits you. Watch out for
what makes you comfortable. Watch out for what satisfies you. Watch out
for the desire to be special. Watch out for the desire for accomplishment.
4. Further Guarding Against a Deformed Daily Life - The following 5 points
will protect you from developing a deformed daily life. First, know your
soul-life. Second, don't compromise. Third, be pure. Fourth, be disciplined.
Fifth, let the truth guide you in your daily life.
5. Preventing and Being Rescued from a Deformed Daily Life - Two major
concerns confronting every serving one: how to prevent the improper things
from coming into one's daily life, and how to be rescued after such deformity
has already occurred.
